Application Methods and tips

There is a good chance EOR strips are unlike anything you've used. You can refer to our application videos for help and we are always here to give advice and troubleshoot problems that come up.

Tips from our team

Patience is key- As with anything new it can take a few tries to figure out the strips and what will work best with your horse.

Don't force it- If your horse is resistant to the gum application method try applying to the bit to start.

  • Gum Application

    • If the EOR strip is pliable, you can use it directly. If the strip feels brittle or stiff you'll need to soften it first.
    • To soften a Brittle Strip: Place the sealed packet somewhere warm, such as a dashboard in the sun, until the strip becomes flexible. OR wet the strip, either by dipping into a bucket or pouring a small amount of water into the packet and letting it briefly soak.
    • Apply the strip directly to the upper or lower gum. The location may depend on your horse's preference and where they tolerate it best.
    • You're done! Allow the strip to naturally dissolve.
  • Bit Application

    • Prepare the strip, it needs to be moistened so it can adhere to itself.
    • Dip the strip into a bucket or pour a small amount of water directly into the packet. Let the strip soak briefly until it becomes pliable.
    • Wrap the strip around the mouthpiece of the bit so that it clings to itself.
    • Tack up your horse as usual and the strip will naturally dissolve.
